Federal Reserve issue FOMC statement - 07 November 2024

Economic activity continues to expand, with easing labour market conditions and a slight rise in the unemployment rate. Inflation has made progress toward the 2% target but remains elevated. The Committee aims for maximum employment and 2% inflation. It sees risks to both goals as balanced and remains attentive to economic uncertainty. The target range for the federal funds rate was reduced by 0.25 percentage points to 4.5%-4.75%. The Committee will assess incoming data and risks before making further adjustments. It is also continuing to reduce its holdings of Treasury and agency securities.
