Webinar - SVB Collapse: The Impact on Proportionality Rules in European Regulation

To explore the recent events post the SVB collapse and the Credit Suisse rescue, we hosted a webinar to have an open discussion around:

- Effective risk prevention requires a comprehensive approach that encompasses governance, technology, data, and risk management frameworks, in addition to regulatory reporting requirements.

- Past risk events offer valuable insights to improve risk management and preparedness. SVB's exemption from LCR and NSFR compliance under proportionality rules raises questions on the impact of the proposed Strong and Simple regime on banks' operations and risk management.

- Bank run risk remains a significant concern although the mechanism for the withdrawal of funds has evolved. Internet access accounts provide customers with convenient access to their funds but also pose an increased bank run risk. This is especially true when considering the role social media can play in spreading contagion risk.

The webinar explores alternative approaches to banking as a business that may be more sustainable and resilient in the face of risk events.
