The Role Of AI In The Next Phase Of Financial Regulation
28th January 2026 | 17:00-21:00 | London, UK - Haberdashers’ Hall
RegTech sits at the intersection of financial products, regulation and technology. Each of those areas is genuinely complex. Layer on top the fact that both banks and regulators depend on the same outputs, often from enormous data volumes, yet expect precision down to an individual loan. It is not a simple business.
So what happens when you add AI to this mix? The honest answer is that nobody knows yet. We are all working it out in real time. Banks want efficiency gains. Regulators want explainability. Vendors are under pressure to ship features. And somewhere in between, risk teams are asking whether any of this is actually safe.
The evening brought together senior leaders across Regulatory Reporting, Risk, Data and Technology to discuss how AI is moving from experimentation to embedded capability and what this means for governance and supervisory expectations.
The discussion focused on:
- AI-enabled controls
- Data and model risk
- The role of human oversight as automation scales
