Roundtable, New York: Navigating Basel Endgame and the Role of AI in Regulatory Reporting

1st April 2026 | The University Club New York

An Invite‑Only Roundtable for Senior Regulatory Leaders with William (Bill) Coen, Former Secretary General of the Basel Committee

On 1 April, senior leaders from across risk, finance, compliance, data and technology came together for an exclusive Chatham House-style roundtable to discuss the future of Basel III Endgame in the US.

The discussion took place following the 19 March re-proposal from the federal banking agencies, at a pivotal point in the consultation period, when banks were assessing the potential implications for capital calculations, data requirements and implementation timelines.

The conversation explored how firms were approaching impact assessment, scenario analysis and implementation planning while the proposals remained under consultation. AI also featured as a supporting theme, focusing on practical use cases to help firms prepare for Basel implementation, including anomaly detection, rule interpretation, data quality controls, report classification and building flexible regulatory reporting architectures that can adapt as requirements evolve.

The session featured insights from Douglas Elliott, Partner at Oliver Wyman, and William (Bill) Coen, former Secretary General of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, who shared perspectives drawn from regulatory policy, supervision and front-line implementation.
